Here's to Living in Alignment

This past winter, as I was driving home from a magical weekend in snowy Vermont, when I thought about heading back to work, I noticed something felt different...

To my surprise, the common thought of “back-to-reality” and feelings of dread and overwhelm didn’t consume me.

I actually felt a sense of ease, clarity, and simplicity — I felt aligned, in flow. And it got me thinking…

How do we know when we’re living in alignment?

You see, like me, you may also be trained to work so hard, and not until you’re at your physical/emotional limit, do you take a moment for yourself.

You may try so hard to keep all the balls in the air, juggling, and looking for balance – until you can’t keep the circus going any longer, so you cave.

You may: stop caring for yourself / let a once cherished relationship die / give up on your passion or dreams.

When you hit your limit, you look to escape from your day-to-day life – to have new scenery, a more relaxed schedule, etc.

And upon the return, you feel guilty because you just dropped all the balls. And now you need to figure out how to start juggling again, and then…the story repeats.

Juggle. Hit your limit. Escape. Overwhelm. Repeat.

Can you relate?

I think it’s safe to assume that the above version is living out of alignment. But what’s more important is knowing how to get into alignment.

In self-reflection on my drive home, I realized I was experiencing what I wrote down for myself just a few months ago. I felt aligned because I intentionally created my vision! This is what I know about alignment…

Alignment is created when you act in accordance with your true desires.

It’s definitely not creating a life you want to escape from and think “ugh, back to reality” when you return.

So where do we begin?

First, it's important to have a clear vision for what you desire. Instead of running from the pain, you can be pulled forward by this vision.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know this is part of the 3-step approach I do with my clients: Clarity. Connection. Alignment.

I’ve found that when we actually put pen to paper, magic happens.

Where focus goes, energy flows.

Join me in journaling on the questions below:

What type of life do I really want? If I could be, do, and have anything (no limitations), what would I create in my life?

Don’t avoid this step. You own it yourself.

Here are a few tips to get it done quickly + simply:

  • Go to a quiet place (bathroom, pantry, whatever works!)

  • Trust that what comes up for you is exactly what’s meant to be.

  • Set a timer for 10 minutes (yep that's it!) and write.

  • You can also come back to update.

Remember: you gain clarity from action. So take this small, but mighty step.

Here’s to living in alignment,
Jennie
